What is microneedling?
Microneedling is a type of treatment to help regeneration. In this case, to attempt to reactive miniaturising hair follicles by using the Olapen to create tiny microscopic microchannels to the scalp.

WHY IT EXISTS
Real Hair Regrowth
As hair follicles shrink over time, they may stop producing visible hair — but that doesn’t mean they’re completely dead. For several years, these follicles can remain dormant.
Research shows you can recover and reactivate those follicles with the right stimulation and produce hair regrowth whilst also delaying further thinning, that’s where microneedling using the Olapen comes in.
THE SCIENCE
What's Microneedling?
The Olapen works by gently creating tiny, controlled micro-injuries on the scalp. While that might sound intense, it's actually a good thing — this mild stimulation triggers your body’s natural healing response.
As part of that process, it can boost blood flow, reactive dormant hair follicles, and encourage the production of growth factors and stem cells that support hair growth.
Over time, this can help revive follicles that have slowed down or "shrunk" (a process called miniaturization), and shift them from a resting phase (telogen) back into a growth phase (anagen).
MICRONEEDLING
Clinical Findings

Microneedling induces the release of platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and epidermal growth factor (EGF), all of which support hair follicle regeneration.³

Research suggests microneedling can reactivate dormant or miniaturized follicles by triggering healing pathways.⁴

A 2013 randomized study found that participants using microneedling combined with 5% minoxidil experienced significantly greater hair regrowth than those using minoxidil alone.
FAQs
How long does it take to see results?
Most users begin to notice reduced shedding within 4–6 weeks. Visible signs of regrowth or thickening usually appear after 8–12 weeks, with optimal results developing over 3–6 months of consistent use.
How invasive is microneedling?
Microneedling is minimally invasive. The needles penetrate the scalp to stimulate blood flow and encourage hair follicle regeneration. You may experience mild redness or minimal sensitivity for up to 48 hours post-treatment.
How do I know if I am a good candidate for this?
You're a good candidate for the Olapen if you have:
Early to moderate hair thinning
Male or female thinning
Receding hairline or diffuse thinning

Do often do I need to replace the cartridges?
These are single-use only due to hygiene and microneedle safety standards.
How do I sterilise cartridges?
Do not sterilise or reuse. These cartridges are single-use only to prevent contamination and ensure microneedle integrity.
