Modern Slavery Statement
Statement for the financial year 2026. Last updated: October 2026
Modern slavery, including forced labour, human trafficking, servitude and child labour, is a serious crime and a violation of human rights. Olapen is opposed to it in all its forms, and we're committed to doing what we can to make sure it has no place in our business or our supply chain.
About this statement
As a small business, Olapen is below the turnover threshold set by Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, so we aren't legally required to publish a statement. We publish this one voluntarily because we believe customers have a right to know how the products they buy are made and handled.
Our business
Olapen is the trading name of a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. We design and sell the Olapen at-home microneedling pen and its needle cartridges online through olapen.com, to customers in the UK, the EU and other countries worldwide. We're a small business with no employees besides the owner, and we work with a small number of suppliers and service providers.
Our supply chain
Our main supply chain partners are:
- Manufacturing: Olapen pens and cartridges are made by our manufacturing partner in China.
- Fulfilment: orders are stored, packed and dispatched from our fulfilment centre in Dongguan, Guangdong Province, China.
- Delivery: international delivery carriers take orders from our fulfilment centre to customers.
- Services: our online store, payments and other business services are provided by established technology companies.
Risks
We recognise that electronics manufacturing, warehousing and logistics can carry a higher risk of modern slavery, including excessive working hours, withheld wages or documents, and recruitment fees charged to workers. Because our manufacturing and fulfilment take place overseas, we focus our attention on these partners.
What we do
- We choose to work with a small number of suppliers so we can build direct, long-term relationships with them.
- We expect our suppliers to comply with all applicable laws on labour, wages and working conditions, and to treat their workers fairly.
- We expect our suppliers not to use forced, bonded, trafficked or child labour, and to hold their own suppliers to the same standards.
- We ask questions about working conditions when choosing and reviewing suppliers.
- If we found evidence of modern slavery, we would act straight away. This could include requiring changes, and ending the relationship if the supplier didn't put things right.
Next steps
Over the coming year, we plan to:
- ask our main suppliers to confirm in writing that they meet the standards above
- keep this statement under review as our business grows.
