Supercharge Your Skincare Ingredients & Formulas
Olapen helps skincare actives penetrate deeper into the skin allowing up to 90% absorption compared to only 10% absorption without the Olapen, topicals mostly just sit on the surface of the skin. This changes with the Olapen, supercharging ingredients and formulations to do what they were intended for better results.
Maximise Your Skincare Results
When skincare penetrates deeper, skincare reaches the cells they were intended for at a greater quantity maximising visible results.
FAQs
What topical products does it work for?
Nanoneedling pairs best with lightweight, water-based serums and oils — hyaluronic acid, peptides, niacinamide, ceramides, copper peptides, and growth factors are all great choices. These are the ingredients that hydrate, soothe, and feed the skin's repair process, and the nano-channels let them travel further than they ever could from topical application alone.
Skip anything that's designed to exfoliate, strip, or destabilise: retinoids, high-strength vitamin C, glycolic or salicylic acid, alcohol-based formulas, essential oils, fragrance, and thick occlusive balms. Fragrance-free and sterile is the gold standard.
What about the skin barrier?
The barrier stays intact. Unlike microneedling — which physically breaks the skin to trigger a wound-healing response — nanoneedling works entirely within the outermost layer. The silicone tips ease temporary channels open between surface cells, then those channels seal back up on their own shortly after the session ends. Nothing is punctured, nothing bleeds, and the barrier's protective function isn't compromised. In fact, when you're layering in hydrators and barrier-supportive ingredients, the treatment tends to leave the skin stronger than it found it.
Does it hurt?
Not at all. No numbing cream, no flinching, no red face afterwards. Most people feel a soft buzz against the skin and that's about it. You can head straight back to your day — apply makeup, go outside, get on with things. Zero downtime.
How is nanoneedling different to microneedling?
They look similar from the outside, but they're doing different jobs.
Microneedling goes deep. The needles drive down into the dermis (anywhere from half a millimetre to over two), deliberately creating tiny wounds so the skin rebuilds itself with fresh collagen and elastin. It's a structural treatment — powerful, but it comes with redness, recovery time, and usually a numbing step beforehand.
Nanoneedling stays on top. The cones barely graze the surface layer, opening microscopic pathways without actually piercing the skin. Instead of injuring the skin to rebuild it, it uses those pathways to push active ingredients much further in than they'd otherwise go. No pain, no downtime, and frequent enough use (weekly is fine) to build a real routine around it.
Put simply: microneedling rebuilds the skin. Nanoneedling feeds it.
How often do I need to replace the cartridges?
Each cartridge is good for multiple sessions with proper care — you don't need to bin it after every use. Rinse the tips under warm water straight after your session, soak the head in 70% isopropyl alcohol for a few minutes, let it air dry on a clean surface, and store it back in a sealed pouch or case until next time.
As a rule of thumb, a cartridge is good for around 4–6 of your own sessions. Swap it out sooner if the tips start to feel rough against the skin, look discoloured, or the pouch has been open for more than a few weeks. And never share a cartridge between people — one cartridge, one user.
