How Often to Microneedle
Microneedling works by prompting your skin to repair itself, and that repair takes weeks, not days. Leaving enough time between sessions is what lets new collagen form. Microneedling more often won't speed up results, and it can irritate or damage your skin.
Recovery time by area
| Session | Depth | Time between sessions |
|---|---|---|
| Nano (face, neck, around the eyes) | Lowest setting | At least 1 week |
| Face, needle cartridges | 0.6mm | About 4 weeks |
| Scalp | 0.6–1.0mm | 2–4 weeks (longer at deeper settings) |
| Body | 1.0–1.5mm | 4–6 weeks |
These are minimum gaps. Always wait until your skin has fully settled, with no redness, tenderness or flaking, before your next session. Don't use Nano on an area during the recovery window after a needle session there.
How many sessions?
Most people follow a course of around 3 to 6 needle sessions, then continue with occasional maintenance sessions every few months. Deeper concerns such as scarring and stretch marks usually need more sessions than texture or glow.
Sample routines by concern
These routines are examples to adapt. Your skin's response is the best guide.
Glow and dullness
- Nano on the face once every 1 to 2 weeks.
- Optional: a 12-pin session at 0.6mm every 4 weeks for added texture benefits.
Sensitive or redness-prone skin
- Nano only, once every 2 weeks to start. Move to weekly only if your skin stays calm.
Fine lines, texture and pores
- 12-pin or 24-pin at 0.6mm, once every 4 weeks, for 3 to 6 sessions.
- Nano around the eyes once every 1 to 2 weeks, but not in the same week as a needle session.
Pigmentation and sun damage
- 12-pin or 24-pin at 0.6mm, once every 4 weeks, or Nano every 1 to 2 weeks if your skin is sensitive.
- Daily SPF is essential. Sun exposure undoes progress on pigmentation.
Acne scarring
- 12-pin across the area, or 9-pin on individual scars, at 0.6mm, once every 4 weeks, for at least 6 sessions.
- Only when you have no active breakouts.
Thinning hair
- 24-pin, 36-pin or 42-pin on the scalp at 0.6mm, every 2 weeks to start. Allow longer gaps if you increase the depth.
- Allow at least 3 to 6 months before judging results.
Stretch marks and body scars
- 36-pin or 42-pin at 1.0–1.5mm, once every 4 to 6 weeks, for at least 6 sessions.
- Use the 9-pin at the same depth for individual marks.
